Ability OT commenced an exciting new chapter, moving into new premises at Bulimba in Brisbane. This clinic space is much larger than our previous office and will enable us to develop our services to include group programs, clinic based upper limb intervention (splinting, Estim) and cognitive intervention. We also now have the capacity to complete more comprehnsive ergonomic (workspace) reviews. Contact us to chat about our new service capacity.

Ability OT works hard to maintain multidisciplinary connections to get the best outcomes for our clients. Cathy meets regularly with the Directors of My Turn Physiotherapy and Red Soup Speech Pathology to discuss ways we can best support our common clients from a clinical and management persepctive. Our younger team members also meet monthly to engage in multidisciplinary peer supervision to enhance their learning and promote collaboration.

Ability OT’s priority is the health and well-being of our staff and the clients we see. At present we are closely monitoring advice from the Australian Government, Chief Medical Officer and World Health Organisation to guide practice.
We wanted to advise that we have a robust infection control policy and business continuity plan in place to direct us in these uncertain times.
The steps Ability OT is taking to minimise the risk of infection to staff, clients and the wider community:
All Ability OT staff will adhere to the Australian Government’s directive on self-isolation, quarantine periods and infection testing. All Ability OT staff have completed additional Infection Control learning modules Ability OT staff will complete a Risk Assessment prior to and on the day of each community visit. This includes an assessment of the client’s health and willingness to receive intervention. This risk assessment extends to any third parties involved in sessions – i.e. equipment suppliers, builders etc. All Ability OT staff will adhere to additional infection control measures outlined by individual residential facilities Ability OT staff who are working from the office are obersrving social distancing guidelines in this setting Ability OT staff are encouraged to complete OT sessions via telehealth means where appropriate to limit face to face contact Ability OT holds the right to cease any intervention if assessed as high risk and will seek to make alternative plans with the relevant client and stakeholders.
